Abiogenesis is a scientific hypothesis, saying that life on this planet came about through semi-random forces as opposed to competing hypotheses like Creationism or Panspermia.

Leading MethodsEdit

The general idea behind abiogenesis is that complex organic molecules, given the right conditions, can form from inorganic, non-living substances.  Most proponents of abiogenesis beleive that it occured ~3.4 BYA, in the primordial soup, a frothy mix of carbon, water and basically, every element below 35.  Combined with harsh conditions such as lightning, many unique molecules formed, eventually resulting in amino acids, which became proteins, and then simple life.
