Hispanic people are those who associate their culture and/or ethnicity with those of Spanish-speaking Latin America or Spain. While the term is often used interchangeably with Latino, the latter includes any cultures descended from the Latin-speaking areas of the Iberian Peninsula. Countries with the largest Hispanic populations are Mexico, Colombia, the United States, Spain and Argentina. Hispanic and Latino people combined constitute over 16% of the population of the United States, or 50.4 million people.
