Manitoba is a province in central Canada. Bordering Ontario to the east, Nunavut to the north and Saskatchewan to the west, it has coastline on Lake Superior and the Hudson Bay. It is part of the Prairie Provinces, located on the Great Plains (known in Canada as the Prairies). Manitoba has a total population of approximately 1.2 million. The capital and largest city is Winnipeg, which has more than half of the province's population. Manitoba is characterized by a flat, featureless topography and a continental climate.
