The Nile is the longest river in the world. The Nile empties into the Mediterranean Sea in the north (the Nile is one of the few rivers to run south to north), and flows through Egypt and Sudan, before it splits into the White Nile and Blue Nile. The White Nile continues on towards Central Africa, while the Blue Nile ends near Lake Tana in Ethiopia.
